Director, Enterprise Technology Investment Banking
New York, USA
JOlivier & Partners has been retained to identify a Director — or an exceptional Associate Director ready for the step up — to lead the enterprise technology franchise of a full-service investment bank in New York. The role combines senior origination with hands-on execution and offers the opportunity to build a franchise within a growing platform, with a particular focus on cross-border transactions.
The Role
The Director will source, win and execute M&A, private equity and capital markets mandates across the U.S. enterprise technology landscape, working closely with the firm’s international teams and leveraging its established network of strategic and financial investors. It is an entrepreneurial position, suited to a banker who enjoys operating independently in a lean environment while building lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and secure investment banking mandates within the U.S. enterprise technology sector, covering M&A — primarily sell-side, with selected buy-side engagements — private equity and venture capital advisory, and equity and debt fundraising.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with founders, C-suite executives, private equity and venture capital investors, family offices and strategic acquirers across North America, and represent the firm at industry conferences, investor events and technology forums.
- Identify and develop cross-border opportunities across the technology ecosystem, including outbound acquisitions by technology companies and software or IT services businesses seeking strategic partners, investment or exits in the U.S.
- Develop deep sector expertise across SaaS, cloud and infrastructure software, cybersecurity, data analytics, AI and machine learning, IT services and digital transformation, monitoring M&A activity, valuation trends and financing markets to inform client dialogue.
- Lead all phases of execution — CIMs, management presentations, financial models (DCF, LBO, trading and precedent analyses), valuation and structuring — and manage buyer and investor processes through to negotiation and closing.
- Mentor and oversee Associates and Analysts on live engagements, ensuring rigorous analytical standards and outstanding client deliverables.
Candidate Profile
- More than eight years of investment banking experience, with a significant part dedicated to technology-focused M&A and advisory in the U.S. market, and a record of originating, leading or materially contributing to completed transactions in enterprise software and IT services.
- Advanced financial modelling skills built from first principles — DCF, LBO, accretion/dilution, sum-of-the-parts and scenario analysis — combined with a strong command of SaaS business models and metrics such as ARR, NRR, CAC/LTV and the Rule of 40.
- An established network among founders, C-suite executives, corporate development leaders and private equity and venture capital professionals across the U.S. enterprise technology landscape.
- An entrepreneurial, commercially driven profile with genuine business development instincts and a real interest in cross-border opportunities and in the impact of AI and software on global businesses.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with boards, investors and founders, and a collaborative leadership style committed to developing junior bankers and to a culture of excellence and integrity.
Compensation
The anticipated base salary for this position is USD 375,000–425,000 per year, within a competitive overall package that reflects seniority and track record, together with clear prospects for growth as the franchise develops.
